Matt Howell is a lead instructor, combining his visionary leadership with hands-on expertise. 

Matt also plays a key role for the school Guardian program in the Greater Pensacola area, contributing to community safety and preparedness.

BACKGROUND

Matt Howell is a seasoned law enforcement officer with 13 years of dedicated service. Over the course of his career, Matt has distinguished himself as a versatile professional, serving as tactical team member, field training officer, rescue diver, K9 handler, and trainer.

For the past 5 years he has specialized as an active shooter instructor, equipping both civilians and law enforcement officers with vital skills in active threat preparation. 

CERTIFICATIONS

Matt Howell's commitment to excellence is reflected in his impressive collection of over 100 certifications.

As a high-liability instructor he has provided critical training in use-of-force, fire arms, and defensive tactics. 

Matt uses his years of specialized training to teach practical techniques, situational awareness, strategies, and confidence to respond effectively in high-pressure situations.

PASSION

Most civilians lack tactical training and law enforcement expertise, and are unprepared to handle active threat situations. Compounding this issues is the spread of misinformation, which increase risks and can lead to a greater loss of life.

Matt Howell is passionate about addressing these challenges by equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and those around them. 

ROLE

Andrew Kilgen is a dedicated law enforcement officer with over 20 years of exemplary service, including 18 years of specialized experience in SWAT operations, where he currently serves as the tactical team leader. Recognized for his profound expertise in active threat scenarios, Andrew has trained over 6,000 civilians to effectively prepare for such events, fostering community resilience and safety.

BACKGROUND

With more than 6,800 hours of specialized training under his belt, Andrew has established himself as a high liability trainer for state, local, and federal law enforcement officers, holding an impressive 36 instructor certificates in high liability courses. His extensive knowledge in active threat response has not only earned him the title of subject matter expert, but has also led to consulting opportunities with the FBI, where he shares his insights to enhance national security protocols.

CERTIFICATIONS

Throughout his 17 years of training officers, Andrew has been instrumental in developing and implementing innovative policies and procedures that significantly improve law enforcement's response to active threats. One of his most notable achievements is the creation of the Guardian Program for the Greater Pensacola area — an initiative designed to strengthen community safety through proactive threat management strategies.
